Sprinkler irrigation follows the pattern of a natural rainfall. The sprinkler breaks up water into small drops. Drop size can be controlled and is usually done so by the pressure applied and size of the nozzle. When the pressure is low, drops are much larger because the water does not break up easily and vice versa when the pressure is high.
